Newsletter dated 12.08.2024
In today’s newsletter, we focus on how Nesto can support you in completing the month-end closing quickly and error-free, while also keeping you informed about all important notifications. Regarding the latter, we will introduce an important new feature during the week, so I’d like to start with that:
Notifications in Nesto
Nesto can notify you, your managers, or the HR department when important deadlines expire, employees submit absence requests, or new documents for employees (e.g., payroll statements) are uploaded. This way, you don’t always have to follow up with the respective departments but are directly informed about changes via the “bell” icon:

Under “Settings” → “Local Settings” → “Notifications,” you can select who within your organization should be informed about these events. For example, you can choose that the supervisor, employees with the role “HR Manager” or “Manager” at this location receive notifications. You can also add additional “Individual Users” who should be notified separately.
If you cannot find certain employees under “Individual Users,” please contact our support (support@nesto-software.de) or your customer advisor. Usually, this is because the employee is registered in a different organization unit. In coordination with management, we can adjust the configuration in your system so that these users can be selected as notification recipients.
Important change as of 16.08.: Receive notifications by email
By the end of this week, it will be possible to receive notifications not only via the “bell” but also by email. To do this, you must activate in your “Personal Settings” that you want to receive notifications by email as well. The emails will then be sent to the email address linked to Nesto.

It is important that you have the basic permission to receive these notifications (see above)!

Employee Details to Support Month-End Closing
At the end of each month, it is essential to check whether all recorded hours and absences are correctly entered in Nesto to ensure a smooth and fast payroll process. Here, the employee details can be a great help. In the employee details, you get a quick overview of all recorded hours, the number and amount of all surcharges, as well as all absence compensations.
Thus, the employee details enable you to quickly verify whether the recorded working times are plausible and to check the assigned wage types for all absences and surcharges. In addition to displaying the recorded hours, the expected labor costs for all employees, broken down by wage types, can also be displayed. This allows you to quickly check the expected monthly salary for each employee.
To display labor costs, the role “HR Manager” or “Administrator” is required. As a manager, you only see the respective hours per wage type!

There are also a few functions in the employee details that are not immediately obvious. For example, you can directly switch to the employee’s contract data by selecting the turquoise-colored employee name. Also, the basic contract details can be displayed via the button at the top right. This way, you can quickly check whether the contract data has been correctly entered.
I wish you always smooth and successful payroll runs and hope that the employee details can be a good support for you!
Best regards,
Your Konstantin
